Our Story

So who are we? And How did “Benissimo” as we know it today come to exist?

The idea started between two childhood friends – Ben and James – who share a love for Italian food.

Ben dreamed of starting a food business of own; whilst James, a frequent visitor to Italy, was keen to find a way to share his Italian culinary discoveries back home in Norfolk.

One summer’s day, after a few beers in the local pub garden, a plan was hatched to make Pizza. Benissimo– a simple but delicious mobile pizzeria that would delight people across East Anglia with great food, served in an authentic Italian way (just like they do in Italy!).

And so, just weeks later, the pair sprung into action and purchased “XXX”, a classic Rice XL horse box. Originally painted blue and paired with a tasteful racing stripe, the trailer was refurbished, repainted, and completely overhauled inside and out (with the help friends and family) to create the elegant,classic trailer you see at the region’s events today.

Our trusty trailer now dutifully serves Pizza lovers all over the heart of East Anglia. All made from scratch by a pair of friends who love bringing a little taste of Italy to their part of the world.
